The fruit came from my Mum's garden in Highweek and was picked in July 2002. 4lbs of fruit was used to make 1 gallon of wine. The wine was racked twice and finished up with a hydrometer reading of 0.995. The wine was decanted into 6 and a half bottles on Saturday 21st December 2002. A bottle each was given to my brother and three sisters. Two bottles have been laid down in my own wine cellar (!) and the half bottle was drunk on Xmas Day and Boxing Day. The consensus opinion was that the wine was akin to a white port or sweet sherry and went down very well. |
